Rosedale
Rosedale Abbey is a small village of about 300 people nestling in the North York Moors National Park, but 150 years ago it was a thriving mining village with a much larger population.
Medieval Rosedale had a priory but only a staircase is left of the abbey in the village today.
Modern Rosedale has a hotel, two pubs, a school, a church, a camping and caravan site, and numerous bed and breakfast facilities.
It is a popular tourist destination for walkers, cyclists and caravaners.
