Sounds of Rosedale

This collection of stories, songs and conversations is an attempt to capture a soundscape of Rosedale based on the memories and opinions of the valley's residents in 2007.

Villagers talk about growing up in the valley of the river Seven, renowned for its heather moors, wild daffodils and the crosses and stones that mark its boundaries.

Recordings include reminiscence about the mining days, riding up Chimney Bank on a home made bike in 1913, the village school, playing football in the fog and many other topics. The tales are told with humour and feeling and convey a sense of what life in Rosedale was like in the past and how it has changed. The village school children contributed songs and other music.

Sounds of Terrington

This collection of music, songs and stories reflects life in Terrington in 2006/7. The recording of ambient sounds is a mix ranging from the dawn chorus, through Jack the donkey, now deceased, to children playing in the school playground.

There are readings by members of the Terrington players, who have been performing plays in the village for several years. Some of these are poems by local authors. Terrington village choir contribute two songs and there are tunes from the Helperby tune book played by the ceilidh band Tiefrung Gleemen.

The children from both Terrington CE Primary School and Terrington Hall school contribute a variety of songs.
