Sounds around Byland

The images on this page show the Byland CD front cover, track list and an area map which is inside the DC slip cover.

This CD has a total of 31 recordings including recollections of old farming methods, village celebrations and traditional ways of living. Also featured are children and adults singing and making music - more formal bands and choirs have made contributions which demonstrate how livley village life can be in 2008 in spite of the general reduction of services at this time.

Byland Abbey was founded on its present site in 1177. Nearby are the villages of Wass, Kilburn, Coxwold, Ampleforth and Husthwaite where these recordings were recorded.
