Welcome toYorkshire Sounds
Here you will find music, images, reminiscences, stories and poetry from villages in North Yorkshire. We have made a wide variety of recordings in Terrington, Rosedale and the villages around the ruins of Byland Abbey and a CD has been produced for each area.
On the 'recordings' page you will find many samples to listen to:
The Songs range from simple primary school pieces to more complex arrangements of village choirs .
The Dialect page features local history; reminiscences of farming, mining and village life in the last century; and a few reflections on Yorkshire today.
Stories and poems are composed pieces about the area.
Soundscapes are recordings of the sounds which surround us, such as owls, the dawn chorus, lawn mowers and strimmers.
Music features tunes played by three ceilidh bands. Contact us |
